HELLGREASER returns with a new album "HYMNS OF THE DEAD"!
After three years since the release of "Symphonies of Horror" and the split EP "Greensleeves" with "THE CRIMSON GHOSTS" in 2022, the band will release their first album with a new line-up on 21st June 2024 via Sunny Bastards Records/Cargo!
Since 2020, band founder Slaughter Lamb has finally built a new, stable line-up with Chris Cranium (ex-The Other / Sumerian Tombs / The Omega Swarm), Fab McIan (ex-Schelmish) and Dr Hoffmann. The four of them deliver a gritty punk rock album with influences from gothic rock and a hint of metal that goes beyond the usual genre boundaries of horror punk.
Since their tour supporting BLOODSUCKING ZOMBIES FROM OUTER SPACE in January 2024, Hellgreaser has been joined live by new guitarist Gabo.
By integrating a second guitar into the songwriting process, the twelve new songs are faster, heavier, and more melodic than before. Synthesizers enhance the band's sound on tracks such as "Take it all away", "The fiends in me" and "Seasons of my life", whilst a rock'n'roll piano to the shuffle groove is a necessity on the Wednesday Addams bow "Her other side". Scene-favourite NIM VIND performs a duet with Slaughter Lamb and even plays guitars!
Lyrically, the band have become more versatile and, in addition to horror figures, also deal with dark personal themes and the horrors of today's reality.
But the party is not lacking either, and on "Hymn Of The Dead" HELLGREASER celebrate the scene, the music, their outsider existence and themselves - together with Hans from LEFT HAND BLACK!
For the production of the album, HELLGREASER went their own way with Mario Dahmen from Liquid Aether Audio and dispensed with triggers and samples in favour of rock 'n' roll. Instead, drums and bass were recorded live, and the guitars were run through real amps and speakers! The decision in favour of an authentic sound without digital samples has paid off. The album is heavy, but with the sound of a real band.
After 'Dead Like You', the second digital single 'The Fiends In Me' and video will be released on 25 April 2024.
